Appointees shall also serve as members on the Environmental Management Appeal Board, Fire Appeal Board and the Saskatoon Private Swimming Pools Appeal Board.

The Board meets at 3:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month, as required, depending on the number of appeals received within the required timeline.

* Ability to assess information and make objective decisions;
* Ability to deal with complex situations;
* Ability to provide rational solutions to complex problems;
* Ability to work with people;
* Ability to interpret and apply standards and codes;
* Have a knowledge of construction standards, fire code standards or public health standards; and
* Have a working knowledge of quasi-jurisprudence or administrative law.

The function of the Board is to hear and determine the appeal of any person aggrieved by an Order made by a Municipal Inspector, pursuant to Bylaw No. 8175 - The Property Maintenance & Nuisance Abatement Bylaw, 2003 or Bylaw No. 8995 - The Underground Encroachment and Sidewalk Safety Bylaw, 2012.

The Board is an independent body.

Bylaw No. 8175 - Property Maintenance & Nuisance Abatement Bylaw, 2003; and City Council Resolution – February 10, 2014 (Clause 5, Report No. 2-2014 of the Executive Committee).

Members receive $25.00 for each hearing date attended and the member who writes the decision of the Board shall receive an additional $25.00 per decision.

The Board consists of five members of the general public, appointed by City Council.  Appointees shall also serve as members on the Environmental Management Appeal Board, Fire Appeal Board and the Saskatoon Private Swimming Pools Appeal Board.
