Board Information

The functions of the Board shall be

a) Making application for acceptance by regulatory officials of approved plan amendments;

b) Ensuring that the plan is administered in accordance with its terms as registered;

c) Filing annual information returns with the regulatory authorities under applicable legislation;

d) Preparing information to report pension adjustments and past service pension adjustments;

e) Receiving all pension contributions and other trust income, investing such monies, making the required payments and maintaining all records and accounts;

f) Acting as administrator of the plan as defined by applicable legislation;

 g) Establishing an appropriate investment policy and accompanying guidelines for the fund;

h) Monitoring the performance and activities of all parties involved in the administration of the plan;

i) Implementing plan changes brought about by legislation or through collective bargaining;

j) Acting in the exclusive interests and to the exclusive benefits of members and beneficiaries;

k) Reviewing pension computations with respect to retiring members;

l) Reviewing and responding to all inquiries made by members, former members and other persons entitled to benefits under the plan;

m) Rendering interpretations of plan provisions; and

 n) Preparing an annual report on its activities for members.

Bylaw No. 1913 – October 16, 2003 (Retroactive and deemed to be in force and effect on and from January 1, 2003)(Repealing Bylaw No. 1876) AND Pension Trust Agreement dated October 16, 2003.

(a) four persons shall be appointed by the Commission;

(b) two persons shall be appointed by the Association;

(c) one person shall be appointed by the Executive Officers; and

The appointment of observers is optional, and up to:

· 1 – Association

·  1 – Executive Officers

·  2 – Commission

·  1 – Retired member selected by the Association
